Graeme Wells
Born 1961-2008 Musician.
Guitar maker of international repute. Racing car driver.
Double Springbok – for shooting and model boat
racing. Runner up Businessman of the Year. Started several
businesses including African Guitars – invented
the African Oil Can guitar, played by thousands of enthusiasts
around the world.
Died – in the early hours of Tuesday morning –
April 22nd. 2008 – result of an asthma attack.
Cape Town especially is the poorer
for the loss of Graeme. Known to many musicians, motor
car racing enthusiasts, tool makers. His contribution
was trying to achieve technical perfection in the
production of a traditional musical instrument. The
evidence is embedded in Graeme Wells guitars –
now rare collectors pieces.
Rest in peace Graeme.
